Weingarten Rights

Union representation gives workers a right that most workers in America do not have.  It’s called “Weingarten Rights” and it’s your ability to request a Union Representative in any investigatory meeting that may lead to discipline!  The purpose of this right is to protect workers by making disciplinary meetings FAIR.  1000’s of union workers jobs are saved every year because of this right.

Weingarten Rights

If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated or have any effect on my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative or steward be present at this meeting.  Without representation, I choose not to participate in this discussion.

Weingarten Rights are very similar to Miranda Rights (your legal right to request an attorney before being questioned by the police.)  If this right is important to American’s outside the workplace, shouldn’t it be important to you on your job?

Management always has a witness to protect them.  Why do you deserve less?
